Course description:

At the Winter Olympics, athletes performed at levels far higher than anyone could have imagined just a few decades ago. Scientific approaches to training, and especially diet and nutrition, play a major role in such achievements. We know that adequate carbohydrate stores are critical for optimum performance during both intermittent high-intensity and prolonged endurance exercise. This article will review current research on the carbohydrate requirements of athletes, especially studies supporting new theories of lower carbohydrate intake during training.
