    What is Today'sCPE?
  • Each month, Today's Dietitian magazine publishes an article and examination on a pertinent nutrition or dietetics practice topic.
  • Each article is created and edited by Nutrition Dimension Inc., an Approved Provider of Continuing Professional Education for Registered Dietitians and Dietetic Technicians Registered, and Certified Dietary Managers.
  • The examinations for these articles may be purchased and completed only through this website. Only RDs, DTRs and CDMs may earn credit through Today'sCPE.
  • Dietitians and Dietetic Technicians please note: The CPE activity type for for Today'sCPE is "Pre-Approved Self-Study", category 720 or 740.

    How do I complete an examination for CPE credit?

    1. Read the article and exam carefully. Write down your answers.

    2. You will need to purchase a magazine exam to receive CE credit. At the top of this page, there is a link to view current magazine articles and to purchase magazine exams for CE credit.

    3. Follow the order process on our secure ordering site. Provide your address, profession, license numbers, and credit card information including the expiration date. You will then receive a temporary authorization number to complete the exam.

    4. Once you have received your temporary authorization number, you are ready to complete the exam. Click on the "Interactive Online Testing" link from our home page. Follow the directions. Enter your temporary authorization number and the course id code: mag-test. You will then be able to select from 12 different magazine tests to complete.

    5. The temporary authorization number will be valid for 24-72 hours after purchase of the exam or money saving 3- or 6-pak. Use this number to complete exams immediately. You will receive a permanent customer number via e-mail. Once you receive your permanent customer number - the temporary customer number is no longer valid.


    What happens when I complete the examination?
    Your exam is graded and the correct answers are shown on your screen. You may print out a copy of the corrected test. Complete a brief evaluation of the module and submit it. A Completion Certificate will appear on your screen. You MUST print this certificate immediately – it is not possible to interrupt, save or modify this certificate. Once you leave this screen, you cannot get back to it.


    How do I report CPE credit to CDR or DMA?

  • RD's and DTRs: Under the new Portfolio system, we DO NOT report completions to CDR.
  • CDMs: We do report Clock hours to DMA every month for the previous month. The date you complete a module is the date you earn CPE credit. Your Completion Certificate and e-mail verification are usually all you'll need so keep them in a safe place. We can provide a replacement Certificate for a $5 service charge. We have never lost anyone's CPE credit, and can verify your completion date(s) for up to 7 years.


    How will I know I've gotten CPE credit?
    Your completion certificate(s) verify that you have successfully completed the module(s). In addition, an e-mail will be sent separately to your e-mail address, verifying the details of your completion and informing you that your credit has been entered in our database (this e-mail confirmation does not include your certificate of completion).


    Can I complete more than one module at a time?
    Sure. Simply purchase additional exam access at any time, or take advantage of a multiple-exam discount for 3-paks or 6-paks of modules. When you come back to take a magazine test, just go to the Interactive Online Testing portion of the website.



    How long are the modules valid?
    Each module will remain on the website for 12 months from the date of original publication. For instance, an article published in June 2007 may be completed for CPE credit through June 30, 2008.
